Networking of R&D projects between Germany and Israel

Germany and Israel are announcing  a call for proposals for joint R&D projects,
focusing on developing innovative products and applications in all technological and
application areas. In recent years, there has been a improving in regards of
promoting bilateral innovative projects between Germany and Israel, this is
also reflected in the meetings of delegations between the two countries,
heads of state, ministers and investors and industrialists.
The Germans fell in love with the Israeli news and they want to learn from Israel and
implement it in addition to cooperation. A good example of this is a challenging initiative
for both parties is the German Israeli Network of Startups & Mittelstand (GINSUM) s
a platform initiated by ELNET (European Leadership Network) and supported by the
German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi) to link the German
Mittelstand and municipal actors with Israeli startups.





Over the past few decades, Israel has established itself as one of the most
technologically advanced countries in the world. With a population of just
over 6 million, there are an incredible number of more than 4,000
technology companies in this country. The software
that protects our data from dangerous cyber activity is one of the cornerstones of
computer security – and arguably one of the greatest tech inventions from Israel.

Germany seeking for Israel military technologies, looking at buying an Israeli
anti-missile shield system that could also offer protective cover for neighboring
EU states . ’Currently spends Israel 4.27 percent of its GDP on research and
development and out of that budget almost 30% goes to military technologies.
With such focus, Israel is ahead of most of the developed militaries across
the world including the United States,
in terms of its weapons development programs

GINSUM offers networking opportunities through events, workshops, pitching formats
and roadshows, providing information and hands-on assistance in order to gain growth
opportunities for both sides. On a unique platform with various partners, ELNET provides
a large network with incubators, investors, corporates, support organizations and
others from both countries.

Also Eureka the world’s biggest public network for international cooperation in R&D
and innovation, present in over 45 countries. It is a decentralised intergovernmental
organisation aiming to boost the productivity and competitiveness of industries
by funding and supporting international collaborative market-driven R&D projects.
This call for projects has been launched following Eureka’s Network projects
framework based on mutual consent between participating national funding bodies.
Israel Innovation Authority and the German Federal Ministry for Economic
Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK) will provide access to public funding for
joint projects provided by The Innovation Authority and by BMWK’s
ZIM program (Central Innovation Program for SMEs), respectively.
